Enthusiastic and engaged psychotherapy.
I am a licensed psychologist, specializing in clinical health psychology. I work with adults, often in collaboration with your medical providers, to improve adjustment to and management of medical conditions and to support your physical and mental health and wellness goals. I work primarily from a cognitive behavioral therapy orientation, with a goal of addressing the interplay of thoughts, emotions, relationships, and environmental factors that impact behaviors related to your goals for physical and mental health. My mission is to support you being fully engaged in living a rich, full and meaningful life.
HEALTH PSYCHOLOGY: I work with people experiencing such things as chronic pain, cardiac conditions, cancer, type 1 or 2 diabetes, emotional eating, and preparation for and adjustment following surgery. I support people with goals of lifestyle modification and medical treatment plan adherence to improve chronic disease management. I also work with people on addressing the stress, anxiety, depression and grief that may accompany acute and chronic physical health conditions.
SLEEP PROBLEMS: I work with people having trouble falling asleep at bedtime, having long stretches of being awake in the middle of the night, and/or waking up too early. We may also focus on worry or stress impacting sleep, as well as nightmares. When working with insomnia, I primarily use CBT-I (cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia).
ANXIETY, STRESS and ADJUSTMENT: I work with people seeking skills for reducing the impact and disruption of anxiety and worry. Anxiety may be affecting relationships, going out in public, keeping plans, quality of life, progress toward career or other goals, and/or sleep. I also work with people going through significant life transitions or stressors, to support building and using effective, health-promoting coping skills.
I offer individual psychotherapy sessions in-person at my office on Bend's west side or via telehealth for people throughout the state of Oregon. I am in-network with Pacific Source (commercial plans only) and Providence. I can accept cash payment from people who have Medicare insurance. I can also provide you a Superbill for use with out-of-network insurance. Please call or click "Contact" so we can set up a time to talk and determine if we'd like to work together.
